One of the richest black women in the world is coming to Greater Fort Lauderdale in September. Entrepreneur and philanthropist Folorunso Alakija is a leading professional in the oil and gas industry and she is also recognized internationally as the richest woman in Nigeria. The only African American to own Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, and McLaren dealerships - Thomas Moorehead, CEO of the Sterling Automotive Group in Washington D.C. - is coming, too.
So are scores of other high-profile achievers of color including media moguls, prize-winning journalists, trailblazing CEOs and professionals who are operating on a global, national, and regional stage.
They will be honored for their accomplishments, they will share their expertise, and they will provide inspiration for over 1,000 attendees from around the country expected at the inaugural ICABA Global Hall of Fame Weekend Sept. 26-29, 2019, at the Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, FL.
The four-day mega conference is hosted by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau and presented by ICABA (the International Career and Business Alliance). The South Florida-based organization is celebrating its 10th anniversary as one of the world’s leading online communities connecting accomplished and aspiring professionals and entrepreneurs of color worldwide to build relationships, share information, and enhance the transfer of wealth and leadership.
The orchestrator of ICABA’s success and the Hall of Fame Weekend is founder and CEO Jerome Hutchinson, Jr. who has assembled a lineup of high-profile presenters, special programs, and one-on-one business mentoring opportunities that reflects the extent and richness of those international connections that have been created.
High-level networking opportunities and salutes of achievers are blended into the events and workshops throughout the weekend.
Highlights include the ICABA Diversity & Inclusion Conference and Awards Luncheon Saturday, Sept. 28, that features two of the world’s most respected leaders of color, Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., President and CEO of SHRM, and Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation, as keynote speakers. Six highly-effective diversity and inclusion thought leaders will present current trends and insights and address relevant issues and best practices that leaders in diversity and inclusion are tackling in today’s workforce.
That evening, the ICABA Hall of Fame will induct 12 international honorees, including Alakija and Moorehead, celebrated for their lifetime achievements. These world-class leaders will also participate in individual master classes with selected attendees, sharing their personal journey and career, business, and leadership philosophy and providing valuable mentoring to aspiring entrepreneurs.
The Friday night Global Influencers event will recognize and honor leading influencers, innovators, and emerging leaders at a Grammy-style, red-carpet event featuring celebrities from the world of entertainment, sports, business, technology, and other professions. Over workshops include the Career and Business Summit that will also recognize highly accomplished professionals and entrepreneurs and the Global Health Summit that will bring together worldwide thought leaders and leading organizations in healthcare who will address critical issues facing the economy and delivery of healthcare for communities of color worldwide. ICABA also salutes Women of Impact on the final day of the Global Hall of Fame Weekend.
