Get ready to run, play, explore, and eat in Miramar, Florida. It’s the southernmost municipality in Broward County, so all points south are in Miami-Dade.

For Sports and Music, Miramar Is Your Ticket

Believe it or not, it takes the same or less time to get to the Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins,  from Miramar than most areas of Miami-Dade County, making the neighborhood a top choice for football fans in town for a game. 

But there’s more than pigskin playing in Miramar. The Miramar Amphitheater in Miramar Regional Park is the most weather-friendly outdoor performance space in the region. Most of the 5,000-seat audience area is completely covered, making it possible to host year-round daytime performances and keep the show going even if it rains. Bordered by lakes and fountains, you’ll love the surroundings – if you can tear your eyes away from the stage.

The Cultural Center and ArtsPark Are on the Must-see List

The Miramar Cultural Center is a work of art in itself. The performance center hosts local, regional, and national acts. Check out the event calendar for speakers, music, and theater.  Part of the Miramar Town Center mixed-use government, commercial, and public buildings, the world-class performance center is flanked by the ArtsPark, which is home to the Ansin Family Art Gallery with a permanent collection and rotating professional exhibits throughout the year.

Miramar has plenty of options to help kids and adults learn something new, run off some steam, or game the afternoon away. The first stop is the Miramar Pineland Natural Area. This partially restored wetlands park is 157 acres, making it one of the largest urban parks in the area. The intersection of slash pine prairie and wetlands offers a variety of wildlife along its trails and boardwalk. The park also offers cushioned playgrounds and a splash pad that younger kids will love.

Snake Warrior Island Park Offers Options for Bird-lovers and History Buffs

At 53.3 acres, what the Snake Warrior Island Natural Area lacks in size it makes up for in options. The islands within the park are archeologically important sites for studying the historical Native American inhabitants of the area. 

Modern bird watchers flock to the park to see the interesting mixture of raptors, waterfowl, songbirds, and wading storks that populate this geographically diverse habitat of Atlantic coastal ridge, lake and wetland.

Miramar Is an Emerging Center for Multicultural Tourism

Miramar is considered one of the up-and-coming cities for multicultural tourism in Greater Fort Lauderdale says Stacy Ritter, President of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. 

The ArtsPark hosts the international UniverSoul Circus in February and the city is a central venue for housing visitors to the three-day Jazz in the Gardens Music Festival in March. 

Performances at a new 5,000-seat amphitheater will bring more tourism to the community. “It’s one of our leading cities, one of the most highlighted and integral boroughs in the area,” said Tucker.
