Founded in 1890 and named after the numerous deer that used to roam throughout the area, today’s Deerfield Beach is a fun, walkable destination to savor seaside pleasures and adrenaline-pumping adventure, all within a laid-back, small village feel.
Take a stroll or just park yourself on a bench to people watch. It’s more serene here than typical ocean boardwalks. The cove-like beaches offer plenty of room to play beach volleyball, kitesurf, skimboard, paddleboard or simply do nothing at all. Walk to Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier, restaurants, and shops with varied choices for everyone.
At the 431-acre Quiet Waters Park, the focus is on water fun, including Splash Adventure water park, a marina with boat rentals, and several lakes for fishing. Also here: the innovative Ski Rixen USA cable water-skiing, one of America’s first cable water ski parks. Experience the rush of water skiing over silent, glassy-smooth water without a boat!
Those who prefer dry land will find mountain bike trails, (with bike rentals available), basketball courts, and campgrounds. If you visit in Feb or March, the Renaissance Festival is a must-do! Travel back to the 16th century with 100+ artisans, 100+ performers, entertainment, plus food and drink fit for a king.
Take a fascinating free tour of the Butler House, owned by pioneers J.D. & Alice Butler. This 1923 Spanish mission style home is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Deerfield Beach Arboretum's 200+ species of trees and palms from five continents is a tranquil oasis for solitary reflection or romance. Take a leisurely walk along picturesque paths winding through the trees. The Arboretum is fully accessible by wheelchair as well.
Diners rave about Casa Maya Grill’s fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine: combine with a refreshing sangria, margarita, or libation of choice. Maybe a burger is more your craving? Charm City Burger Company uses the finest ingredients with lots of options. At Patio Bar and Grill you can kick back just a few feet from the beach, for drinks and light lunches by day with live entertainment at night.
From cozy, independent resorts to Wyndham, Hampton Inn, DoubleTree By Hilton, Embassy Suites, and other big chains, finding top-rated, value-priced lodging is a breeze. Many offer free parking and other amenities.
Located in the northeastern section of Broward County, Deerfield Beach is an easy 15-20 minute drive to Fort Lauderdale.
