You can even get behind the wheel and pilot. At Sawgrass Recreation Park, in addition to private and general admission airboat tours, you can browse the reptile and rescued wildlife exhibits. And be sure to wave to Cannibal, their 1,000-pound alligator.

When you’re whipping through the water on an airboat, you’ll never want to stop. But when you do, you get to experience the glassy stillness of the water and the sights and sounds of this one-of-a-kind ecosystem, because you haven’t lived until you’ve experienced the suspense of watching a blue heron swallow a large fish whole.
