Miramar
Live, Work, Play: It's Right Here in Miramar!
Named after the Cuban city just outside of Havana, Florida’s version of Miramar has been home to generations of families raised here since its founding in 1955. "Miramar is proud of its multicultural and multiethnic diversity," says City Manager Vernon Hargray. But it’s also a great destination for visitors. After all, its motto is "Beauty & Progress," and there are plenty of ways to experience the lovely surrounds and forward-thinking ethos of the area. After all, adds Hargray, " Miramar is a vibrant, active and progressive community with something for everyone to enjoy."
Seek Inspiration and Entertainment
Don't miss the chance to visit the 800-seat Miramar Cultural Center | Artspark to take in world-class performances, enjoy a day of family fun, stroll through the Ansin Family Art Gallery or breathe in the blooms at the beautiful botanical garden, which has a “beautiful lakefront view,” says Hargray, who notes that arts and cultural programs are offered year-round. This landmark is a vibrant destination in the heart of Miramar Town Center. It’s also next to Miramar City Hall, with easy access to great dining options.

Sporting Activities Bring Fun in the Sun
Here's one for fitness enthusiasts: Miramar is home to Ansin Sports Complex, a 24-acre-state-of-the-art facility of winning proportion. It has a FTX Mondo running track that mirrors the 2008 Summer Olympics iteration in Beijing. It's IAAF certified and completed by hurdles; high-jump and pole vault pads and standards; three long-jump pits, a discus and shot cage; and a 200-meter practice track. That's plenty of reason to lace up your sneakers and sprint for the finish line—but oh, there's more. The complex is stocked with football, soccer and outdoor basketball courts, a netball court with lights and cricket practice cages.
The complex also offers special programming for folks seeking to achieve peak health (think boot camp). And there is a community center with a computer lab; rec, game, whirlpool and locker rooms; a concession stand; and a press box with VIP status. We're game for all of it.
Find More Reasons to Get Out
Gather the family; bond with that special someone; or find simple pleasures in alone time at one of Miramar’s 40 parks and recreation facilities. Among them is the 173-acre Miramar Regional Park with many amenities to enjoy. A tip: Groove to a live concert performance or attend an upcoming festival at the park’s amphitheater. The beautiful, open-air venue seats 5,000 people.

Have a Thrill With Monstrous Fun for Kids From 5 to 95
“Scary” and “cool” are not words often used to describe mini-golf. But then again, Monster Mini Golf is hardly your typical course. With its state-of-the-art, indoor, climate-controlled facility housed completely under the luminescent glow of black lights and fun monster-themed décor, this 18-hole destination strives to break the mold. Among the electrifying options are a high-tech video game arcade with a monstrous prize center; mini bowling; monster-themed laser tag; laser maze; light concessions; and more.

Like Big Dining Variety? Dig In
Authentic pizza from Italy? Cuban croquettes? A little Argentinian spice? Miramar plates it all—and a whole lot more. La Famiglia tempts you with pizza to premier seafood. Cuban classics are on the menu at La Carreta. How about a juicy steak? Texas Roadhouse is up for the challenge. Miga’s serves Argentinian specialties, while Lin’s Asian Cuisine and Silver Spoon Thai & Sushi satisfy your Chinese, Japanese and Thai cravings. Or opt for dozens more tasty options like Middle Eastern or Jamaican fare. In fact, Coconutz Fusion Cafe is a vegan-friendly Caribbean-style restaurant serving up exotic Jamaican cuisine.
Location is Key
Miramar is ideally located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, less than 30 minutes to airports and seaports. Reach all the top attractions throughout the Miami, Greater Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach regions easily via multiple nearby highways. Book your stay at one of the hotels in the area to take advantage of great rates and amenities. Springhill Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Courtyard by Marriott and Home2 Suites are a few of the popular choices.
