North Lauderdale
Find family fun in Kid-friendly North Lauderdale.
Located just west of Fort Lauderdale, North Lauderdale is a quiet residential suburb, proud of both its rich diversity and emphasis on family-friendly fun. More than 42,000 residents from all over the world have raised several generations here. Visitors can discover wonderful ways to enjoy the outdoors, both on land and in water, and taste succulent dishes from cultures across the globe... all within just five square miles!
Get a move on
Hampton Pines Park is a great way to spend the day. You can combine two of Florida’s biggest draws– sunshine and water – by fishing or boating on the large lake. Kayaks and paddleboats are available for rent. Kids will love the two playgrounds. Team up and challenge each other on the two beach volleyball sand courts. Or do your own thing on the fitness and jogging trail.
Bring a picnic basket and that special someone – there are picturesque lakeside picnic tables and tranquil, shady spots throughout the park.
Planning a reunion or celebration? Around Hampton Pines Park lake are seven pavilions available for rent: each includes grills, as well as water and electricity hookups. Just bring the goodies and the gang for a full day of relaxation.
Hampton Pines Park is just one of many choices. As part of the city’s emphasis on healthy, family-geared fun, North Lauderdale squeezes quite a few parks and green spaces into its five-mile borders. Check out 15 parks in total within city limits.
Strap on some wheels
Give your phones and gaming devices a rest: play the old-school way at Galaxy Skateway. Groove to high-energy tunes as you glide around and around the large rink. There are also video games and a snack bar onsite. It’s low-cost fun for kids and adults alike – and an especially good idea on that occasional rainy day!
Take your tastebuds to the Caribbean, Europe – or both
Tabanka: a Trini Kitchen delivers “America’s Best Doubles,” curry chicken and goat, tambrand and more amidst warm, friendly service and Trini island décor. How about spicy patties, gungo soup or other Jamaican delights? Head to Taste Rite. Can’t decide? Dig into it all at Dutch Pot Jamaican Restaurant’s big Caribbean buffet. Something from Europe, perhaps? Krakus Polish Deli is the real deal - genuine Polish kielbasa, pierogi, bigos, beer and groceries. Mexican is always a crowd pleaser: skip the Americanized chains and feast on authentic tacos, sopes, tostadas and quesadillas at Taqueria El Jovenazo Jr.
