Fort Lauderdale Beach / White Wave Wall
Start with sunrise - the best beach shot can be taken along A1A at Fort Lauderdale beach. The miles of Blue Wave beaches, pristine golden sand and turquoise blue waters make for the classic beach photo montage. Nothing is more iconic in Fort Lauderdale than the white wave wall that stretches along the beach promenade and A1A. Visitors should take a picture sitting on the wall, with the ocean and sand in the background. This shot says: "Yes, you were definitely here...and loving it!"
Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park
(previously John U. Lloyd State Park)
Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park is a favorite destination for kayaking, canoeing and other boating, fishing, swimming, picnicking or just cloud watching. It is also area's most important turtle nesting beaches. The park features 310 acres between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, stretching from Port Everglades Inlet on the north to Dania on the south. With breathtaking "Shutter Spot" locations throughout the park, visitors can keep clicking as they follow the path around to the beach or the mangroves. The photo ops keep coming at the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project, which features dozens of curated contemporary outdoor murals at key locations in the heart of Downtown Hollywood. Explore at your leisure or during an ArtWalk.
Everglades
Capture all that is the Everglades of Greater Fort Lauderdale with an airboat ride at Everglades Holiday Park or Sawgrass Recreation Park. If you want to look gators in their "red eyes" at night, visit Sawgrass Recreation Park for a gator night tour. Don't forget to bring your "infrared flash."
17th Street Causeway Bridge
Greater Fort Lauderdale is known as the "Venice of America," and visitors will find boats and yachts almost everywhere they turn. While you can virtually stop at any street to take an image of a boat, if it's the majestic cruise ships you're after the prime location to spot them coming in and out of the city is Port Everglades. No need to venture into the port for this shot; visitors can just walk along the 17th Street Causeway Bridge for the perfect vantage point. They can watch as the world's largest cruise ships, Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Sea and Allure of Sea, and others call at Port Everglades each week.
Flamingo Gardens
Sixty acres of paradise and history await you at Flamingo Gardens Botanical Garden and Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary in Davie. Gaze at 3,000+ rare and exotic plants and some of the largest trees in Florida. Get up close and personal with the largest collection of Florida native wildlife, including alligators, bears, bobcats, eagles, otters, panthers, peacocks, and flamingos.
Hollywood Broadwalk
Not just for the paparazzi, Hollywood Broadwalk, a two-and-a-half mile beachside pedestrian promenade which provides an oceanfront setting for yet another collection of dining and entertainment venues, is most definitely ideal for capturing any moment in time. Visitors can click photos while on the move along the newly reconstructed path for walkers, cyclists, joggers and Segways. This super photogenic area has even captured the attention of the "other Hollywood" and was recently used for the filming of Marley and Me and Rock of Ages.
Jaxsons Ice Cream
Memories are sweet at Jaxsons Ice Cream, this old-fashioned ice cream parlor in Dania Beach. You'll be snap happy taking shots of memorabilia plus the kitchen sink - literally.
Butterfly World
Let the camera shutter capture the flutter of free-roaming, rainbow-hued butterflies stretching across acres of tropical gardens and waterfalls at Butterfly World. Standing among thousands of butterflies, visitors can capture picture-perfect shots-from the action shot of having one of these beautiful creatures land on a child's shoulder to having hummingbirds and the tropical gardens serve as a colorful backdrop for the yearly family portrait.
Bergeron Rodeo Grounds
There's always a "camera ready" shot with so much happening at The Bergeron Rodeo Grounds in Davie. Located in the historical western-themed downtown district, this indoor/outdoor facility can fill up the memory card with action-packed shots ranging from monster truck and air boat shows to the competitive thrills of an authentic rodeo.
Las Olas Boulevard / Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District
Take a stroll and vogue down style mile Las Olas Boulevard to experience a collection of local boutiques and great people watching. This tree-lined neighborhood offers visitors the charm and feeling of a small home town. Families can enjoy tasty treats at Kilwin's Chocolates & Ice Cream and take a classic photo of the kids with chocolate-covered faces.
