Greater Fort Lauderdale is the “Yachting Capital of the World,” so it’s only fitting to have an epic boat parade to celebrate the holiday season in this tropical paradise. Gather with friends and family along the 12-mile parade route for the 50th Annual Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Emmy award-winning TV host, actor, iHeart radio host and author Mario Lopez will serve as the Grand Marshal, leading 100 boats adorned with brilliant lights and holiday décor along the New River and Intracoastal Waterway. Lopez is best known from his early days on “Saved by the Bell” and competing on "Dancing With the Stars.”
This milestone year’s theme is “50 Years of Hard Rockin’ Fun,” so expect lots of great music coming from aboard the boats in this parade where the floats really float. From traditional holiday music to the rock genre, you’ll find plenty of tunes to get you off your feet and dancing the night away.
The Winterfest Boat Parade is the traditional kickoff to the South Florida holiday season. The parade starts along the docks west of Stranahan House to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The boats then travel East along the New River in Fort Lauderdale to the Intracoastal Waterway as it continues North to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach.
The best way to see the parade is from Winterfest’s Parade Viewing Area located at Las Olas Intracoastal Promenade Park. Gates open at 4 p.m. with live music and entertainment. Tickets can be purchased here. You can also watch the world’s most-watched boat parade live on TV or the internet from the comfort of your own home or hotel room.
Private boats to giant showboats and corporate superyachts will be on festive display with hundreds of thousands of lights, music, entertainment, celebrities, musical groups, beauty queens and more. The show is viewed annually by more than 1 million spectators. This beloved event is one you won’t want to miss.
