Greater Fort Lauderdale is getting a weekend tradition that’s been drawing crowds in Miami for years: Smorgasburg. The open-air food market originated in Brooklyn, where dozens of independent vendors serve everything from globally inspired street food to standout bites from up-and-coming culinary talent. The market officially opens on April 11 in Fort Lauderdale's Flagler Village, bringing a floating boat bar, themed cultural weekends, and a food scene you’ll want to plan your weekend around.
The Rundown
When: Saturdays and Sundays, noon to 8 p.m.
Location: Flagler Village (536 NE 2nd St., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301)
Getting there: Hop off the Brightline or catch a Water Taxi ride along the river—many routes are available from Fort Lauderdale to Pompano Beach and Hollywood—and you’re minutes away from your first bite.
What is Smorgasburg?
The name “Smorgasburg” is an ode to its Brooklyn roots (smorgasbord meets Williamsburg), and the concept has since spread to other major U.S. cities. Owner Gaston Becherano says Fort Lauderdale’s riverfront and Flagler Village neighborhood have become increasingly walkable and community-centered, making the location a natural fit. “We loved our time in Wynwood, but this felt like the right moment to grow into a location that’s more central to the broader South Florida audience and suited for an open-air market,” he says.
Whether you’re visiting as a couple, with kids, or with the dog in tow, there’s room for everyone—and enough vendors to keep the whole group busy for hours.
Food & Programming
Nearly 50 vendors and more than 15 brand-new concepts are making their Fort Lauderdale debut when the market opens, alongside a handful of returning Smorgasburg Miami favorites.
“The core lineup will remain consistent, with rotation happening primarily during monthly special events that introduce new concepts and collaborations,” says Becherano. “We’re also creating ongoing creative challenges for vendors such as encouraging mashups, limited-run dishes, and ‘dish of the month’ offerings, along with special happy-hour bites and early brunch-style handheld options.”
Returning Favorites
If you’ve never made it to Smorgasburg in the past, here’s your chance to catch up on old favorites:
Birreria Tijuana: slow-braised birria tacos and quesabirria
Korn Korner: corn-forward dishes like elote and loaded street-style creations
Lazy Oyster: a popular traveling raw bar serving freshly shucked oysters and lobster rolls
Kabuki Soba: yakitori skewers and wok-fired noodles
Boca Burger: crispy-edged smashburgers
Blazed BBQ: slow-smoked meats and Texas-style barbecue with a South Florida twist

Fresh Flavors
You’ll also have the chance to discover new South Florida vendors:
Riddim & Bao: Jamaican and Asian flavors
TropiRollz: Caribbean fusion sushi and fully cooked rolls
Seoul Hotteok: Korean sweet pancakes with indulgent fillings

Gangnam Sticks: Korean street food skewers
El Nopalito Vegan Taqueria: plant-based Mexican dishes with housemade ingredients.
Sessions Coffee: a coffee program featuring carefully sourced and roasted beans
For a sweet treat, Acai Way piles its bowls with fruit, chocolate, and creative mix-ins. Santo Dulce turns out halo-shaped churros in unexpected flavors, often paired with a scoop (or two) of ice cream. Newcomer TANGTANG taps into the tanghulu trend with glossy, crackly candied fruit skewers that are so satisfying to bite into.
Smorgasburg also plans to introduce No Reservations, a culinary series that spotlights new chefs. Each takes over a dedicated container to test out original dishes, giving diners a reason to keep coming back. For founder Becherano, it’s less about one-off moments and more about building a platform—one that gives South Florida’s culinary talent room to be seen.
When you need a break from eating, wander through the retail vendors tucked throughout the market. The mix ranges from romance novels and handmade accessories to eco-friendly tees. Pick up a ceramic mug or planter from Alchemy Clayworks, or browse Golden Era Kits for vintage soccer jerseys with a nostalgic edge.
Smorgasburg Fort Lauderdale opens April 11. If you’re already planning a weekend in the area, Flagler Village just gave you a reason to stay a little longer.
