As we near the end of the year, Greater Fort Lauderdale is continuing to welcome new, returning, and expanding restaurants, nightlife venues, hotels, and attractions now and well into the new year. Here are some of the hottest new spots — and those coming soon — that you’ll want to check out while vacationing in our tropical destination.
New Flavors Debut
Florida’s Hollywood now has an outdoor food hall that goes by the name Shipyard on Tyler Street. A trendy spot featuring live music, murals, and hanging plants, Shipyard is home to a handful of shipping container-style food vendors, including Ikkaku serving Japanese treats like boba tea; a coffee shop called Bean and Rose, also a vendor at Sistrunk Marketplace; La Muerte Street crafting street tacos; Galley Meat Fare serving burgers; and a cocktail bar, Posies.
In Fort Lauderdale’s Victoria Park neighborhood, No Man’s Land provides a posh and intimate cocktail experience unlike any other. Signature drinks off the cocktail menu include Pepita Mai Tai and Let it Linger, a vodka concoction with agave, lemon juice, cranberries, sage, and sparkling wine. Guests can also enjoy a small plates menu with items like deviled eggs, steak tartare, and more.
Housing an impressive whiskey collection, you'll want to hit up Mama Hank’s, a speakeasy and restaurant in Flagler Village. Make a reservation ahead of time to hang out at this new Fort Lauderdale hidden gem.
In Pembroke Pines, find your food creativity at Nine Five Pho, which debuted in September on Pines Boulevard near Interstate 75. At this Vietnamese spot, build-your-own pho bowls, from the base (choose between noodles, rice, or banh mi sandwiches) to the protein, including crispy pork or grilled shrimp, and beyond.
Local Gems Expand
Besides new food and drink spots, plenty of local gems opened up new locales in Greater Fort Lauderdale.
Bravo Peruvian Kitchen, a staple in Wilton Manors, opened a second location out west in Coral Springs near Runyon’s. Bravo’s menu features a variety of ceviche and other seafood dishes and hearty entrees like lomo saltado (a traditional Peruvian sirloin dish). Complement any meal with a pisco sour or another specialty drink from the restaurant bar.
Tucked inside Flagler Village in Fort Lauderdale, Wells Coffee Co. opened its second location across from Tarpon River Brewing in what once was Grind Coffee Project in the Tarpon River neighborhood. The trendy coffee shop is famous for roasting its coffee in-house, and sells pastries and sandwiches as well, and is a hub of activity for working locals and out-of-towners with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available.
Another Flagler Village coffee shop, Circle House Coffee, added a new location in Oakland Park near Interstate 95. The coffeehouse, which offers a variety of seating options, as well as a drive-thru for busy patrons, sells a variety of coffee drinks, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, Mojo Donuts, empanadas, CBD-infused slushies, and more.
Further south, in Florida’s Hollywood, Vicky’s Bakery opened its 17th store location in South Florida, which includes the Miami area. The Cuban family-owned franchise is the spot for fresh Cuban bread and pastries, sandwiches, coffee, and cakes. Additional locales in Greater Fort Lauderdale include Plantation, Davie, Pembroke Pines, and Cooper City.
Theater Staples Reopen to Patrons
Catch a touring Broadway musical or concert at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The Broward Center opened back up in October after shutting down in early 2020 due to COVID-19. Visit BrowardCenter.org for guest entry requirements and upcoming shows.
After a million-dollar renovation project, The Parker (formerly Parker Playhouse) reopened in September. The historic Fort Lauderdale theater features an art-deco design with plenty of modern touches, from top-of-the-line acoustic panels to a jaw-dropping lobby and VIP lounges. Lux Hotel
Stay and play in Dania Pointe, a hub of popular retail shops and restaurants in Dania Beach, at Marriott’s new property, Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport near the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The modern hotel features plush guest rooms, a bar and American-style restaurant, and a rooftop pool that provides the perfect escape with luxury cabanas and skyline views.

We've looked at what's new and reopened in Greater Fort Lauderdale. Now it's time to look at the future and what awaits guests and locals in the coming months.
Brewery lovers rejoice: Pompano Beach establishment Black Flamingo Brewing Co. is opening a second location near Funky Buddha in Oakland Park sometime in late November.
A new nightlife and dining destination, Holly Blue in Flagler Village is opening soon, although, according to its website, there isn't an official opening date yet. Situated alongside the soon-to-be nightclub The Angeles inside of what once was First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Holly Blue will offer indoor and outdoor seating and handcrafted cocktails, as well as elevated culinary dishes, with a kitchen helmed by Executive Chef Giovanni Rocchio.
Another Flagler Village addition, Batch New Southern Kitchen & Tap, will feature casual dining with a menu offering comfort food at its finest, including dishes like chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and smoked ribs, to name a few. The new locale will open in late 2021.
In winter 2022, Fort Lauderdale’s hotel scene is getting even more luxurious with the grand opening of the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences on North Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard across from the beach. Hotel highlights include a world-class spa, a pool, and terrace with jaw-dropping ocean views, oceanfront dining, and spacious rooms with a modern, nautical theme.
