NEW ON THE SCENE

Oaxaka

Here’s a place to add to your brunch list! While this Mexican and Asian fusion restaurant has been around since 2020, it wasn’t until June 2022 that they opened on Sundays. Try out the miso tako bowl or Oaxaka tuna nachos with one of their many refreshing cocktails, all made with locally-sourced goods. Located in downtown Hollywood, Oaxaka is also a great option during the city’s ArtWalk.

Juicy Juice Bar

When she couldn’t find a healthy juice bar in her neighborhood, Neri Santiago took it upon herself to open Juicy Juice Bar in March 2022. You can order smoothies, green juices, açai bowls, ginger shots, and other delights that don’t just taste good but are good for you. Her partner is her rapper husband, N.O.R.E. With the success of this neighborhood spot, she hopes to expand the reach of Juicy with more juice bars.

The Sunset Club

Towering over Hollywood Beach, the new rooftop bar and lounge Sunset Club at Costa Hollywood Beach Resort has views and fun you can’t beat. The entertainment spot celebrated its grand opening in February 2022. Hang in the lounge for a meal or hit the dance floor with a cocktail — every month, the rooftop bar hosts a Sunset & Salsa Party! From the rooftop, you can see Hollywood Beach and the Intracoastal Waterway.

Alem

New on the scene is Alem, a Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant boasting dishes such as tabbouleh, eggplant dolma, lamb chops, and kebabs. Since opening in February 2022, the upscale dining space has provided live music and entertainment from Turkish musicians and performers, as well as a more casual bar setting.

Drastix

With food truck origins, the downtown Hollywood restaurant got its name from “Drastically Delicious Stix,” as their menu was inspired by skewer recipes. The team’s goal to become a brick-and-mortar restaurant finally came to be in November 2021, with Drastix’s menu sporting dishes like curry goat, Korean BBQ bulgogi, chicken with pineapple, and other international cuisines.
