On the Water

What is summertime in Greater Fort Lauderdale without getting in the water? Sea Experience Scuba Diving is offering a two-for-one PADI scuba diving class that’ll have you out on the coral reefs the same day. If you’re not quite ready for scuba, try out the buy-two-get-one-free snorkeling lessons with the instructors at A Private Scuba & Snorkel. Located in Dania Beach, tours leave from various beach locations and include gear, pictures from the tour, a dive map, and fish ID card.

And don’t forget the most quintessential summer water activity: fishing. Fishing Headquarters in Fort Lauderdale is offering two-for-one deals for regular adult tickets on a four-hour drift fishing trip on weekdays. For an even longer day out at sea, YB Normal Sport Fishing is offering 20% off fishing trips that last four, six, or eight hours.

If it’s gators you’re in search of, head west to Weston for a two-for-one airboat ride at Sawgrass Recreation Park to experience the Everglades. Or, to experience a little bit of everything, Captain Tyler has two-for-one entry aboard his Tuff Gong Reggae Boat Tours, a tour through Fort Lauderdale’s waterside mansions and yachts against the backdrop of reggae music, with the option to jump in the water for snorkeling.

Museums

Trade in the heat for the AC of some of Greater Fort Lauderdale’s best museums, which are offering up deals this summer. Entry is two-for-one at the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood, with exhibits like the family-friendly “Time to Play,” or the exploration of the division between Cuba and the United States in “Rosa Naday Garmendia: Not So Far Away.”

At NSU Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale, you’ll be pleased with two-for-one entry to see exhibits such as “Happy!,” a collection of works that personify the emotion, or works by artists from every country in Latin America in “I Paint My Reality: Surrealism in Latin America.”

And for history buffs, travel back in time to Fort Lauderdale’s early days as a city through History Fort Lauderdale’s two-for-one tour of the Pioneer History Museum, 1899 Schoolhouse Museum, and Marin Museum’s arts and history exhibits. Film

While there’s no shortage of blockbuster films this summer, pay tribute to independent films at one of Greater Fort Lauderdale’s local movie theaters. Cinema Paradiso in Hollywood and Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale are both offering two-for-one tickets for foreign and indie films, which perfectly pair with the wine and beer they have on offer.

And drive-in movies aren’t going to the wayside; FLIFF Drive In Cinema’s summer special is $10 off the $30 per car entry fee. Check the schedule to see what films you can enjoy from the comfort of your car, and complete the experience with a bag of popcorn and drinks.
