Virtual activities in Greater Fort Lauderdale range from tours of museum exhibitions and field trips to hands-on science experiments and virtual storytelling.


Museum of Discovery & Science (MODS)

Since your kids can’t visit the museum right now to engage in all its fun activities, the museum has launched a Virtual Camp Discovery program. Every weekday morning, they release videos that cover a variety of topics like story time, hands-on activities you can do at home, and even science demonstrations. Bonnet House Museum & Gardens

For your older children interested in learning about some local history, this 1920s estate filled with art, architecture and gorgeous gardens has a four-part virtual tour that kids can participate in.

Historic Stranahan House Museum

Learn how the oldest surviving structure in Broward County came to be with this “Live from Fort Lauderdale” livestream series that happens every weekday morning at 11:00 a.m. on its Facebook page. Check out the home’s sewing room or kitchen virtually, or sit in on a show and tell session. The page also hosts plenty of at-home activities like bingo and cooking recipes for kids to enjoy.

Celebrate the outdoors while keeping the kids indoors thanks to Flamingo Gardens’ at-home programming. The staff are using the letters of the alphabet during its “A-Z Virtual Tour” series of daily videos and activities for kids.

NSU Art Museum

The museum’s most recent exhibition, “Happy!” is now available via a free virtual tour. After the tour, have your kids create their own work of art to express their happiness. The museum has also compiled a slew of videos on its YouTube channel where kids can learn how to make art from a famous artist or listen to international music star Pharrell Williams speak about his art.

Young At Art Museum

On this museum’s website, kids have plenty of activities to choose from. They can take virtual tours of the museum’s galleries, participate in several hands-on craft activities, and even take a virtual field trip.


Munchkin At Home

This online (and complimentary) resource for Florida parents offers a variety of fun and educational activities for kids. Choose from arts and craft ideas, cooking recipes, games, book recommendations, and even fitness and live dance streaming activities.

Sarah Glass Ceramics

Since your kids can’t attend any of Sarah’s pottery classes, she’s selling take-home clay pot kits for kids. Make sure your kids sign their creations before dropping them back off at the studio for firing and glazing.

HOPE at home

Deliver the Dream, a local nonprofit that provides therapeutic programs for families suffering from an illness, disability or crisis has created a new, interactive, virtual program called HOPE at home. This program is available to ANY family who wants to meet new people and engage in stimulating activities with experienced pyscho-social professionals. For the next several months, Deliver the Dream will offer creative activities, original projects and interactive events via Zoom and their social media outlets twice a week. Once families register for the program, they will receive a Family Fun Welcome Kit with all the supplies needed to take part in the events. 

South Florida PBS Kids

South Florida PBS Kids is the new 24/7 children’s television channel which includes live stream on digital platforms and makes it easy for children to watch their favorite series during primetime and other after-school hours when viewing among families is high.
